Weekend Decoupage Project & End of Year Survey

Merry belated Christmas! Hope everyone had a nice and relaxing holiday. We had a relaxed time with family as we went back to my parents’ house. It was nice to get some extra days of late mornings, as I get up at 5am on regular work days.

I was introduced to this cute zakka shop called Flying Tiger Copenhagen a few months ago and it has become my favorite place to source some craft items since. I bought these pretty papers from them during my last visit. I decided to use them to decorate empty boxes (decoupage) to give it a new life. I had a few jewelry boxes from Shopbop, which needed a little make over. I bought Mod Podge in Hawaii this October (the photo diary here). You can buy a Mod Podge in Japan as well, but it is four times more expensive than buying in the U.S. I bought mine at Walmart in Hawaii for $2.

Decoupaging a box is super easy. You only need to cut the paper in the size of the box, apply Mod Podge on the box and stick the paper on. After the Mod Podge drys off, apply another thin coat and let it dry, and you are done.

It is a great project to do it with your child. Kiko helped me apply the Mod Podge and she seemed to have enjoy it. I remade three boxes; one for my tea bags and the other two as gift boxes.
