It is relatively inexpensive and you can remove and attach new decals whenever you want without scratching or ripping the wall paper. Kiko’s last room before our move had a castle decal, but ever since I saw this pin (and this and this), I wanted to go for a triangle wall for her room this time.

I bought my decal on etsy, VinylConcepts. It arrived within a week from the U.S. to Japan. Afternoon Tea at Shangri-La Hotel Tokyo

shangri-la hotel tokyo afternoon tea by vivat veritas3Today was my mom’s birthday! I took her to an afternoon tea at the Shangri-la Hotel in Tokyo. The tea house is on the 28th floor of the hotel, with an amazing view of Tokyo. We got a window seat so we could see Tokyo Sky Tree. You can choose your drink from more than 15 kinds of flavored teas and coffee. My favorite was grape iced tea.. Everything was delicious and it has an amazing atmosphere.

I am glad it is Friday and I can sleep in tomorrow. I usually get up at 5am, so having extra two hours before Kiko gets up is worth its weight in gold.

VV Wedding:: Silk Gown and Vest

happy wedding milo and tokoThere is nothing that gives me more joy than seeing my customers wear the clothes I have made and having them be happy with the product. Last Saturday, Andy and I were invited to a wedding by the bride and groom for whom I made the silk painted wedding gown and matching vest. The wedding was in a quite unusual place for Japanese standards. Usually a couple goes to a hotel of their selection where they offer a whole package – from a rental dress, fake chapel built within the hotel, gifts for the guests to take home and even fake priest! Milo and Toko, the groom and bride of this wedding did everything handmade on their own in a camp site in a mountain in Japan. It is about three hours away from Tokyo. 2 hours in a train and about an hour by car from the closest station. Last but not least, this entire wedding was filmed for a Japanese TV show, “Why did you come to Japan? (Youは何しに日本へ？）”! The groom’s family was asked if the TV crew can follow them to see what they are going to do. I am not sure when it is going to be aired, but so excited see my dress and vest on national TV!
