DIY Notepad

Do you like pretty stationery? I love it. It makes me happy and keeps me awake during boring meetings. Japan is a heaven for the cute stationery, but with this tutorial, you can dress up a simple notebook with scraps of fabrics. It’s super easy (no sewing).

I used the notebooks I got for free from my cell phone company.  You can get a simple one from a dollar store. I used double sided tape to stick everything together.

1. Cut the fabric you want to use. I laid the opened notebook on a fabric and cut it 2″ longer than the notebook on all sides. Make sure to iron the fabric so it is not wrinkly.
2. Fold the top and bottom of the fabric so the size of the fabric matches the sides of the note pad. Iron. Place a double sided tape on the folded top and bottom and place it on the notebook.
3. Do the same for the sides so that the entire notebook is covered with one fabric with edges folded inside. That way the fabric ends won’t fray.
4. Decorate it with pretty fabric tapes, flyers or stickers!

What you need:
1. Spray paint color of your choice (mine is aqua), White spray paint as a primer, Scotch tape, Paper, Gloves.

How:
1. Using paper and scotch tape, cover the area you don’t want to be painted.
2.  Coat the shoes with 2 coats white primer.
3. Once the white primer is completely dried, spray the color of your choice. Wait until it’s dry and and spray again.

Voila! It’s pretty easy, right? I’m thinking of painting a pair of black platform sandals I thrifted next. For color block sandals inspiration, check out here.

DIY scarf belt DIY Scarf Belt: Skinny scarves make wonderful belts if you have any sitting around. To make this DIY accessory, I used this leopard print scarf, but you can use any print to spice up an outfit. (I am a big fan of chevrons right now.) 🙂
scarf camera strap DIY Scarf Camera Strap: I’m a huge photography nerd but I can never find a cute camera strap. (Does anyone else have that problem?!) Silk is one on of the strongest fibers in the world, so I decided to make a camera strap from a silk scarf. 🙂
scarf purse DIY Scarf Bag: Need a quick bag on the go? Try making one out of a scarf! Aimee from Swellmayde uses a cute trick she found on a Hermes knotting card to make a chic and functional purse from a scarf.
