Sagami Ono Arts & Craft Fair

Right now, Japan is in the midst of”Golden Week” Golden Week is a bunch of national holidays in a row. So some people have an entire week off from work or school. Because of Golden Week, there are some events, festivals and fairs going on in the city. Last Sunday, we stopped by at Sagami Ono Art & Craft Fair, where our friend, Taren was a vendor.

Taren and I met at the Love Handmade event hosted by Etsy Japan. I was selling Vivat Veritas clothes there and she stopped by with her friends.  She has an etsy shop, Oslo and Alfred. Check out her shop, her illustration is so cute. I bought some post cards, and now I want this pretty necklace. 

There were close to 200 vendors. I love strolling around checking out little shops. Below were my favorites…

The second from the top picture above, is an illustration by Minoru Takenaka. I bought his post card – I just thought his illustration was so cute, and the fact a man was drawing it was kind of unique. The illustration is so feminine and sweet! He is having an exhibition in Shinjuku from 5/21-27. More info here if you are interested.

The last picture, the macaroon cases were made by another etsy seller, Yecco. Aren’t they so amazing? Although I sew, I have no patience to make such a delicate thing like this!

Here are some photos from the Oakwood Holiday Craft Fair that I participated in last Saturday! It was held at a gorgeous private residence in Roppongi, Tokyo. The downstairs of the condo had a lounge space with a bar, and that’s where the fair was. Just out of curiosity, I checked out the rent price of an apartment in this place. Guess how much? 980,000yen (12,000 USD) and up per month.

Since I did not have time to make new items, I just brought everything I had in stock. I was a bit worried whether my shop will look mish mashed and not cohesive,but after sorting out the clothes by color, I think they looked okay!

Overall, it was a great fair, fun time, good opportunity to meet other etsy sellers in Japan. I’ve sold as a vendor at craft fairs in the past both in the U.S. and Japan. I always find myself exhausted after these kind of fairs because it takes all day and usually requires a lot of prep. Surprisingly, this time, the fair was only for 4 hours (from 12pm to 4pm), so it was not as tiring as other fairs I experienced in the past and required almost no prep. My husband, baby and mom came to cheer me on and keep me company:)

You Are Invited! Holiday Craft Fair in Tokyo Midtown

Hi everyone! I am having a booth this Saturday the 10th at the Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown. It will feature some of my pieces. If you are around Tokyo, please stop by and say hello 🙂 Tokyo Midtown is a chic shopping mall that opened up about a year or two ago. Some of the Tokyo Fashion Weeks runway shows are held here (I went to Shida Tatsuya show this fall). I’ve heard that there is a gorgeous holiday light setup for Christmas, which I am looking forward to seeing!

As said above, it’s on Saturday 12/10, from 12pm to 4pm. The entrance fee is 1000 yen, but it includes drinks, 500 yen donation to Resilience Japan, and 500 yen coupon toward a purchase at the fair. Looking forward to seeing you!
