Made:: Red Splatter Top

Are you participating in the MMM13? I didn’t pledge this time (I participated last year in MMM12), just because I couldn’t commit to taking pictures of my outfit on a regular bases, but I am doing pretty well recently in terms of wearing what I made! This top is the latest addition to my closet, and I pull this out at least once a week. The print is very unique, and the simple pullover shape makes it easy to match with anything. I made this with a scrap from the skirts I made for ANTHOM. This top will not be in the shop but the skirts will be in two different colors (blue and red) in size S, M, and L soon.

The top was very easy to make; no button or zipper closure, just an oversized t-shirt finished with bias strips. By the way, I love these Uniqlo jeggings. If you cover the elastic waist part, they really look like, or at least I hope, regular jeans while they are as comfortable as leggings. My sister gave me two pairs recently and they have gotten a fair amount of wear.

Handmade splatter top (similar), Uniqulo jeggings and Michael Kors watch

A while ago, I read somewhere in the sewing blogsphere about clothes in real life not being styled and worn the same way a
they are portrayed and styled for blog photos. Sometimes I feel that way because I end up not actually wearing the heals that I used to style a dress I blogged about or putting my hair up in bun for the photo when in reality I leave it down for pictures. That does not apply today. This is what I actually wear to work, run errands, and play with Kiko many days of the week. I am trying to make more separates because of their versatility. I am very pleased by this top I made from a left over fabric from the skirts I made for ANTHOM (The exclusive Vivat Veritas x ANTHOM skirts only available here). I think the splatter print is so unique (good finds from Nippori Fabric District) and the slouchness makes it easy to pair with any kind of bottom both tucked in and out.

The Uniqulo jeggings are beyond comfortable. I think you can’t really tell they are jeggings, unless you see my crotch?! Any thoughts? My sister gave me two of those and I literally live in them now.

Stripes Peplum Knit

During the Summer, all I wore was summer dresses. Now the winter has come, I wear pants five days out of week. It’s been too cold to wear dresses even with tights. I kind of miss being pregnant, feeling warm all the time. Since I’ve been wearing pants, I was in a desparate need for new tops. I got sick of rotating my two favorite cashmere sweaters all the time the past few weeks. I had this navy and white stripes knit in my stash that I bought at Nippori tomato a while ago. I whipped this up in one night. I had fun matching the stripes. The trick to match the stripes is not to cut the fabrics on fold. I layed the fabric without folding in half, and cut each piece one by one, making sure that the stripes match on the side. My little assistant had too much fun snapping pictures using a remote. She is a much better assistant than grumpy Andy when it comes to taking photos. I wore this to go see Ballet on Christmas story last weekend.
